Shelina Janmohamed
Ogilvy Consulting UK
Director of Consumer Equality
Shelina Janmohamed was promoted to Ogilvy Consulting UK’s Director of Consumer Equality last year. She is celebrated for advancing Ogilvy's culture forward and empowering clients to address representation gaps in marketing strategies, helping to stimulate growth while creating a fairer society in the process. After spearheading WPP’s Consumer Equality Equation report, the UK’s most comprehensive survey exploring ethnicity and customer experience, she published a thought leadership piece encouraging brands to build better experiences for Minority Ethnic consumers. This won her the Adam Smith Grand Prix at WPP’s Atticus Awards in 2023. In October, she brought creativity to the House of Commons to challenge the motion “the 'anti-woke' agenda is fuelling creativity”, arguing that division hampers creative potential and harms marginalised communities. She was also 'highly commended' in the Changemaker category at Media For All's (MEFA) prestigious 2024 Diversity & Inclusion Awards, held in partnership with Campaign. Shelina is also a fierce advocate when it comes to supporting carers at work. Working closely with Ogilvy UK’s community group Parents & Carers, she is passionate about ensuring employees faced with the harsh new reality of caring someone can continue thriving at work. Aside from her advocacy in the creative industries, Shelina is an award-winning author. Her latest book, Story of Now: Let's Talk About the British Empire, has been nominated for a Carnegie Medal.
