CEO

Susie Hargreaves OBE is CEO of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). It’s her belief that every child has the right to a happy, carefree childhood and her objective is to see a world free from child sexual abuse. She has facilitated this through the eradication of child sexual abuse (CSA) online via technological innovation, political advocacy for children’s safety online, and fostering a united global response to CSA by forging relationships with the tech community, governments, law enforcement, charities and other hotlines.

The IWF, under Susie’s leadership, has met this challenge head on, and has been responsible for removing more online child sexual abuse material (CSAM) year-on-year. In 2022 the IWF assessed a record-breaking 375,230 reports of suspect CSA and removed 255,558 webpages confirmed to contain this illegal imagery. This equates to the removal of millions of images and videos of CSA and countless children safeguarded from further revictimisation. Outside her role at the IWF, Susie has showed an admirable dedication to child protection, including: - Honorary member of the NSPCC Council. - Member of the National Crime Agency Child Exploitation & Online Protection Command Strategic Governance Group. - Member of the World Economic Forum Global Coalition for Digital Safety. - End Violence Against Children Leaders Group. - Member of the International Telecommunication Union Child Online Protection Advisory Group (a specialised agency of the UN). - Executive Board member of the UK Council for Internet Safety. - Member of the “We Protect Global Alliance” International Advisory Board.
