Cara Walker
adm Indicia
Global Chief Technology Officer
“I’m not a techy by trade, but I believe in how technology can transform a business.” Cara Walker neatly encapsulates her positive, human-first approach to technology leadership. As Global Chief Technology Officer at adm Indicia, she works tirelessly to position technological change as an enabler, rather than a threat, driving the adoption of new systems that significantly improve efficiency, collaboration, and customer experience in the recently merged company. Her results speak for themselves. Overseeing a multi-million pound tech transformation for a major manufacturing client, with massive efficiency savings of 20%. Successfully managing a large-scale TUPE, redundancy and recruitment process all at once. And moving her own business from a regional tech delivery model to a centralised group function, with the aim of reducing spend by several million pounds. With a varied career and life experience, she doesn’t fit the standard “cookie cutter” technologist mould. And she uses this difference to great advantage. By restructuring the technology function to align more closely with business goals, she has transformed perceptions of technology from a siloed function into a powerful driver of strategy and innovation. Informed by her own experience of neurodiversity and an economically challenged start, her leadership style is rooted in inclusion, communication, and opportunity. With a firm belief that “different” enables different thinking and new value. Through her work with the Leeds Digital Forum, she advocates for female and neurodivergent inclusion in the workplace, as well as pushing for greater adoption of STEM subjects among young women and girls in education.
